Get in touch with Welfare Services. They can help. You should also get a lawyer to help you figure things out. I hate when absent parents purposely work off the books so they don't have to help with the responsibiliy of what they create.

Must not file taxes? ummmm impossible.. well not impossible, but impossible for them to go for to long before IRS catches up to them.. cant remember exactly what the amount is, but if u make over a certain amount in the year u have to pay taxes, and its very low.. so its not a level that someone could actually live off of...i guess theres always the chance that he's making a living illegally by taking money thats "under the table"..

Ive heard of situations like ur's where they put a lien on their property, house, car etc, that way they cant sell it with out giving u the money thats owed for u.. also they can suspend a persons license..

Are u going through the state child support enforcement?? if not u need to, because they will track him down, and garnish his wages from his employer. They will know what steps to take next and will be the ones to attached everything and anything they possibly can to him.. so definately go through ur state child support enforcement, it saves u alot of money with getting lawyers to handle this situation..

I know that when i took my x back to court, for owed child support (he was in the rear for 3000.00 at the time), they put him in jail and they gave him a certain amount that he had to pay to make bail.. and when he paid that, it came straight to me.. basically he had to pay part of his rearages to get out of jail and sent me the check.. so if they or u can get him in court, thats what will probably happen in ur case as well..

But there are tons of programs out there, willing to help single mothers get their owed child support so dont give up and remember that the longer he goes with out paying, there is a interest fee that goes on top of that money that is owed to u.. currently my x husband is in the rear of 10,000, but with the interest he owes 12,000 .. so keep track of it all..

Good luck..

Are you receiving any payments? If you are not, call the child support agency until you get them to file contempt for non-support. If you get no where with your county agency, call the state child support agency, call your representative. Be nice, don't cuss or scream, just state your case until someone will help you. There are some states that are really bad such as FL., TX., and AZ to mention a few. Keep calling, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

If you can't afford a private attorney, I would advise you to stay in touch with Child Support Enforcement in your city/town. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Also, going through the state (the District Attorney will most likely handle your case) would save you some money in terms of tracking the sorry deadbeat down.

Go to child services in your area and ask for assistance in collecting back child support. They can find dead beat parents easier then you can. When and if the parent does file taxes, any back support owed will be deducted and issued to custodial parent.

Get to work. What man wants or is even interested in child support. That's de-grading. What a horribale example to your kids (Mr Welfare Check). Show your kids how valuable it is to learn to take care of your own family, that is a lesson that will serve you kids much better than chasing someone for money.
