The whole world is a danger zone. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, thunder storms, blizzards, heat waves, cold snaps - every place has some thing. You could live in space, but that is dagerous too.
Life is dangerous - no one gets out alive.

Well first off, you need to understand that nearly everyone everywhere lives in an area that is subject to some kind of recurring natural disaster. For example...Here in the US, those living on the west coast deal with earthquakes, mudslides, and wildfires. The midwest has drouts and blizzards, and the east coast has hurricanes and flooding. People choose an environment to live in based on a few basic neccessaties...first and foremost are food/water/shelter availability. Then I suppose comes physical security, then work, and access routes to others. The fact that the chosen area might be considered a so-called "danger zone" is an afterthought. Let me put it to you this way...what good would it do to live in an area free from all the dangers that plague us...ie. hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, volcanos...etc. if there is no food, no water, no shelters and so on to sustain them?

A lot of times danger zones will have lots of good things going for them - places in danger of flooding will be near a water supply or, as Lady random said, the soil can be more fertile in danger zones. It's no use living in a safe place if conditions are unbearably hostile.

Ask your geography teacher if he/she thinks all these stupid people who insist on living in danger zones should be allowed to apply for asylum in the UK and expect to be allowed to stay. Silly question, most people don't have the choice.
