I have been researching at the library and on the internet but I can not find any thing

Also, Wikipedia lists a flu pandemic in 1957 as a natural disaster

Here's an old fashioned idea: go to a library and see if you can get the year books from the 1950s for say Encyclopedia Brittanica (might be on microfilm, if anyone still does that... haven't been in school for a LONG time!) and page through them.

You're going to have to keep digging... try some different search engines
