i read a lot of old novels and the "north star"constantly help the characters out when out on a voyage or lost in the wild.i'm sick of always having question marks in my head so please answer AND PLEASE LIST A GOOD WEB-SITE FOR ME TO GO ON so i can find out more on this matter...

if you are on the open ocean or deep woods,you can look up in the sky and find true north,not magnetic north....but knowing north gives you west,south and east.....I have seen times in triple canopy jungle when knowing which way north is can be a very big help....since most of the sky is occluded......if you are in the Atlantic ocean and know where north is you can sail west to land.....its also the last star in the handle of the little dipper and the two end stars of the big dippers ladle(Dubhe and Merak) point to the north star all the time....they are five spaces away and rotate around the yearly...

The north star does not help you tell time. Only direction and Latitude. Every other star except the north star help you tell time.

If you can locate the north star, it is only .7 degrees from true North so that's how you can navigate with it

the north star allways points to north so no matter how lost you get you allways no where north is.

yer not seriously wanting to know how the NORTH star helps you find directions?? is it tuna or chicken.......
