Female goldfish have a vent that sticks out slightly. Males have tubercles on their gills when they are ready to mate. There is no other way of telling goldfish apart, no fin shape or anything like that. If the fish are less than 3 inches than they likely are too young for breeding.

it's hard but most female fish have a bigger stomach and the males just have slim body. When a fish is young there is no way you can find out until it's an adult so just wait and see.

The easiest fish you can differintiate between male or female is the sword tail. The mail has the sword tail and the female doesnt.

male goldfish will chase female goldfish. if a female isn't around they will chase another male goldfish. kind of like guys in prison. male goldfish get little pimples on their gills when they are ready to mate (just like humans) females get these weird little ducts that are harder to see. it is easy to spot a male through the chasing behavior. but just because its being chased doesn't mean its a female.
