An individual otherwise able to own any gun under federal law can receive and own any Title 2 (Class III) weapon (the H&K MP 7 would fall into this category), state and local law permitting, providing that the appropriate taxes and fees have been paid and the weapon is properly registered with the National Firearms Registration branch of the ATF. So, if you have the money, meet federal guidelines, and do not violate state and local laws, then yes, it is legal.

Owning or making an NFA weapon

It is illegal for anyone to have possession of an NFA weapon
that is not registered to them in the NFA Registry. It is also
not possible for anyone, except government entities, to register an existing NFA weapon that is not registered, except immediately after one is made by a class 2 NFA manufacturer. An individual otherwise able to own any gun under federal law can receive and own any NFA weapon (local law permitting, ATF cannot approve a transfer where federal, state or local law would be violated by the transferee possessing the weapon in question, see 26 USC sec. 5812(a)(6)) on a Form 4, "Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm". Non-FFL holders may only purchase an NFA weapon from a dealer or individual within their own state.

If the weapon is located out of state it must be transferred to a
class 3 dealer within the state, before transfer to the non FFL
purchaser. C&R FFL holders (type 03) may purchase C&R NFA guns from out of state dealers and individuals. Type 01 FFL holders may purchase any fully transferrable (no dealer samples, see below) NFA weapon, from an out of state source. If the FFL holder is an individual he must submit fingerprints, photograph, and the law enforcement certification.

Contact your local ATF or firearms dealership if you have any questions!

Sure its legal (generally speaking) .. as long as you meet all the legal requirements the fed assult rifle ban is no more.. even a full auto is legal as long as you get the Class III BATF permit for it... All you have to do is conform to all state local and federal regulations... and pay all the fees of course (could be quite substantial.. in some cases more than the firearm)

Yes. Just file the paperwork, pass the background check, pay for the wep and all fees, get permission from the local authorties.

I prefer the MP5 since ammo is easier to come by. But if I have to go into a gun fight, I love the M-60. Usually after a 300 rd belt, the perps are not in the mood to fight anymore.

If it is semi-auto only, it is OK in most states. If it is full-auto capable, you have to pass a stringent background check, "buy" a "tax stamp" (Class III permit) and submit to possible random BATFE goons inspecting to see if you have it and is securely stored.
sidebar; Anybody over 21 can buy a "kit" and an American made receiver and legally build 1 full auto machine gun strictly for your own use and never to be sold. And you can now buy legal World War I and II maching guns in semi- auto only, but most use lots of original parts to build them, or you can buy them made brand new. You can't buy ALL the things you might need to make your mil-spec gun to full auto without a Federal Firearms Class III License. You can buy a few small things but it's illegal to USE them. Scumbag traitor clinton screwed a lot of good American things up.

If you are a citizen without a criminal record then, in most states, you can own any pistol or rifle except a fully automatic one. With a special license and fee, you can, in most states and localities, even own a machine gun, but you agree to random search of your home.
