No, you don't need to use a towel, if the discharge gets really bad to the point where you feel uncomfortable or damp then maybe use a pantyliner but I wouldn't think it's necessary.
As for your period starting, DON'T WORRY! You're only 14 years old... If you get to 16 and they haven't started then see a GP but otherwise don't think about it! It's quite normal for it not to have started yet! I was 14 when mine started but i remember a lot of my friends hadn't! It's one of those things that will just happen when it happens! Once it does happen you'll be wishing it hadn't ;-) Just keep healthy and be glad of the extra time you have period free xx

First of all there isn't anything wrong with you. Everyone starts their cycle at different times...when did most of the women in your family start. Fourteen isn't bad, now if you were 16 or 17 I'd be worried. Since you have breast and are getting a vaginal discharge, I'm thinking you'll be starting within the next couple of months - although, even when you first start it'll be abnormal for a couple of months. Don't worry. As far as the discharge is concerned, don't use a towel :). Just buy some pantiliners and use those, that way you can get into good hygiene habits early with changing your liner and wrapping it up and placing it into the garbage can...you know clean girl stuff :). It's such a pet peeve to go into a woman's restroom and see remnents of poor home training. But you'll be fine. Also once you start your cycle, don't use tampons (heck I didn't start using tampons until my early 20's). It's much easier and less painful to use pads when you first start your cycle. Keep a couple of pads in your purse/backpack just in case your visitor comes while you're at school. Good luck and you'll be starting soon.

Periods come at different times. You are 14 and i have heard of so many people who are start them at 16. You still have a long way to go.
The discharge are normal....and if they make you feel wet use pant liners. Well there are other discharge that may come up coz there is a problem. Well you can simply know them coz they stick and come out heavly and if you see that you ask your mom or your Gp or any close relatives older than you.
You will start your periods soon.

Don't worry, be happy that your period hasn't started. It happens at different times for all girls. I had a friend that didn't have her period until she was around 16 years old. If you are having a little brown discharge, however don't have any need for a pad, it means that you have the beginnings of your period - it will come sooner than later. I have attached some sites for you to click on that will help you with your question. Good Luck! Everything will be fine!

No honey, there's nothing wrong with you, no two females cycles are ever the same. Your age and height doesn't really have anything to do with your forthcoming periods.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to bring them on either. Saviour the time before they arrive, believe me.
I would use a panty liner while you have discharge, will just keep you that little bit fresher, and if you were to "have a show" at the same time, then you've covered your basis to speak.
Best of luck, hope I've helped.

There is absolutely nothing wrong. Everything you mention is normal. Periods will start when they are ready to and you cannot compare yourself to any other female because we are different with different bodies. Make the most of not having periods yet...once they arrive they are around for a very long time. However, don't worry about them....they are usually not that bad for majority of women. Thin panty liners are your best bet for keeping comfortable.

first, calm down.
now, everyone is different. there is no "set age" for this.
if you aren't very active, this can affect your cycle or non-cycle. if you're over active too. if you're under or over weight, is also a consideration. there are many things that could cause it. are you under lots of stress? your hormones and emotions can affect it too. if you're really concerned you should see a doctor.
also, this discharge. have you had sex? if so, you could have caught something. OTOH, it might just be normal for you. if someone noticed it, you might need to see a doctor about that too. and you might want to wear a pad, just to save yourself some embarrassment. you could have a yeast infection, which has zero to do with having sex. i wouldn't suggest trying to treat yourself for one without being diagnosed by a doctor first, though.
also, there are other symptoms of yeast infections, which you didn't mention so you most likely don't have one. lots of people have discharges. it just depends on your body.
maybe you should talk to your mom/female relative, and ask your parents to take you to a gynecologist.
good luck!

Don't worry, it will be starting full pelt anytime. soon. If the discharge is light I would use a panty liner(non scented). Remember if you are at all worried at anytime, your Dr or surgery nurse will be able to advise you, that's what they are there for. There is no need to feel embarrassed they deal with these things everyday. Good luck!! xx

hiya ashley, lots of people start their periods at 14,15 and even 16, yours is probably just around the corner, try using a panty liner for the discharge instead of a sanitary towel, there more comfortable and allot smaller and so more discreet, i reccomend allways panty liners there available in a scented form to so you feel fresher.

Your period will start soon enough. The discharge is normal. You might want to try panty liners for that.
