Hello All...
I know this question was asked so many times before, but of all the answers i read, i havent found one that really got to the point of it, its quite simple, and yet complicated...
Am a muslim, i pray, fast, don't drink, do as god's asked (as much as i can), and am gay, i don't know when it started, was it me, *certain conditions*, or was i born this way? Anyway, i never been with a man, i dont intend to be with a man, i know its Haram *Forbidden by god* in our relegion, i hope i can change, but i dont know if that will happen...
So, the question is, am i sinful for just having the thoughts of men, instead of women. please bear in mind that i never acted upon them, and Inshallah *with gods well*, never will act upon them...
Again, am i a sinner?

Many thanks for anyone who can answer.,,

p.s: for anyone who is thinking that am not gay, because i never done it, i just know, in your guts, when you never ever were attracted to women... just to clarify

You are in a difficult place because all your life you have been told that being gay is wrong and a sin. I dont know much about your religion but i would guess that your God made you the way he wanted to. None of us are perfect and we all have emotions, desires, impulses, temptations and imaginations. That is what being human is about. What matters is how you carry yourself through life; How you lead your life; The actions which you take; and how you treat other people. If you love yourself and your friends and neighbours then your God will love you, i am sure.

I am lucky that i dont believe in your God or any God that would persecute me because of the way he, himself, made me. That sounds twisted and God isnt supposed to be twisted is he? Personally, i beleive that religions are a way to control and manipulate people. Religious leaders use their religions purely as a way to further their own material wealth and their power. Listen to your prophet if you must, but never your religious leaders. And what do you think would happen if you sinned anyway? Lead your life the best way you can and stop worrying. I'm sure you are a good person :-)

And why should being gay be a sin anyway? Two people loving each other must be the best thing to happen in the world. Its better than war and hate. I'm sure your prophet was a man of love and tolerance, thats why people love your prophet. People wouldn't love a man of hatred would they? Have you ever read the words that he spoke? You might be pleasantly surprised at his kindness.

I believe that love is more important than anything else and you should question the teachings of your religion if they make you feel like you are a second class human being. God made you this way. God loves you. You should love yourself too. And reach out to other muslims who are gay - i know that you will find them.

God did not create you gay. No one is born with sexual tendencies, they develop through childhood. However, it is of normal (and beneficial) trends that people like mates of the opposite sex. God created the two sexes as complimentary to each other. Once you realize the miracle behind this you might overcome your lustful inclinations. You should look for compatibility, social benefit, beauty and mostly love in a marriage. Woman will balance and perfectly bring out your untapped talents. She is your garment and you are hers. Enjoy it! There's nothing wrong with women; they provide great emotional support too and are a beautiful creature. It is good you are making an effort to follow Islam as best you can. You need to put your faith in God and distract yourself from these ossibly detrimental thoughts. Until then, just don't act on it. Salam and good luck brother.

Everybody's a sinner, so don't feel bad. You can't stop yourself from being in love or what you like. Humans sin even when they don't know, so if you're going to worry about that then you'll be questioning your acts everyday. As long as you have faith and do what morally is right then it's okay.

If you are attracted to men, but you don't actually pursue them, then I don't think it is considered to be a sin in Islam. It is not a sin in Christianity or Judaism simply to be homosexual (even though many Christians ignore this aspect of their own faith).

Since you are Muslim and are respecting your religion, I think that Allah will be pleased.

We must all search for our own meaning and truths in life. No one can really answer this question for you, but you. Some people consider this journey a lifelong pursuit. Finding your own way in a world filled with many varied expectations and beliefs is no simple task so remember, ultimately, you have to live with yourself so realize your life is what you make it.

Have you stopped to wonder why God would create you as gay--when he has called being gay a sin? Is God a hypocrite? Open your eyes to the falsehood of your religion.

I'm not Muslim, but your reasoning is very clear, you are acting as your religion tell you to act. I'm not sure you will be happy with this, but certainly you believe you will not go to hell. So if it is enough for you, it is your decision. Catholics have a group named Courage, you can find there gays who don't practice any sex.

Having gay desires is not a sin, but commiting gay acts is. All the major religions see it this way.
