I LOVE Arkansas. I live in Virginia, but in 1980 I HAD to leave here because of a mean man and went to live with my Grand Mother in Arkansas. I lived there for 5 years and after my Father had a stroke in 1985 I moved back to VA to help my family with him. I really hated leaving there and I miss it alot...all the time. I so want to go back, but my Husband's family is here and since my parents are both deceased we are staying for his family. I really loved it in Arkansas. Best people I have ever met in my life. My Mother and Father were both born and raised there so all my family is still there. Living in VA I have no family other than parents and siblings. Aunts, uncles, cousins, Grand parents are all in Arkansas. It wasn't until I was almost 30 years old that I really got to meet them and interact with them. There is so much to do there. In the north there are mountains..in the east is Memphis (not really Arkansas, but near). The river was the best place for me...fishing and camping all the time. I have been an over the road truck driver for 25 years and people in Arkansas are just plain down to earth...will help anyone..simple, nothing to be putting on airs with. Not a place to go and stay for wealth...most are poor and VERY, VERY hardworking. Jobs are hard to find in some places and they are not paying what we pay here in VA. Little Rock, Ft. Smith, Jonesboro are the higher paying areas. Plus the military base outside Little Rock. I learned to cook in Arkansas so moving back to VA I was sad that the food I had there was not here. Great Southern Eating...All the time. Good Folks...Good down home place to sit a spell...maybe a lifetime.

It's a nice state with friendly people if you fit in. It's a white bred state with a history of racism. The movie called Rosewood is based off of events that took place in a small town in Arkansas named Mena. There are very few black people there and people are old fashioned. Arkansas is a good place for white Christian people with money that don't wanna live in a big city.

Depends on which city.. Where I live we have NOTHING..we finally have a starbucks.. but I think AR sucks.. Job market sucks big time..the wages are the lowest of any state.. Medical care here where I live is horrible.. Some parts of AR are beautiful and there is so much to do.. Hot Springs, etc.. I have lived here all my life and I hate it..I would move if I had the money.

It depends on what kind of person you are and what kind of place you like. Arkansas is beautiful. Lots of outdoor stuff to do. Lakes, hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, etc, etc. I love it, but I like these kinds of things. Little Rock has alot more to do, but if you are use to a "big" city, Little rock can be small. There are alot of great smaller towns. Slow paced life. Southern Hospitality. Southern food. Great stuff.
