Voice on my computer.....?

Question

Every two minutes i hear a voice saying "Im counting down the seconds until i can be with you again" What is it. is it a virus or something. Has anyone else had this problem. If so, how can it be fixed if it is a virus. The voice is a deep nasty tone....

No more stupid answers. Truthfully, i want to know if it is a virus or not.........

It really is the myspace smiley advertisement of the page. It's been startling people into thinking they have a virus from myspace since they first placed it more than a year ago. Didn't help that around the same time they got hit with the Sammy virus and a few people hacking into pages.

The myspace forum had that question and answer when the ad first appeared because of how many people didn't realize it was coming from the winking smiley. It scared me too when it first happened. Probably buried now in the logs because people got used to it. I normally don't have my sound on so I don't notice it anymore.

Definately go to a page w/o the smileys or log off myspace completely and you won't hear it. Have a good laugh at yourself. Don't worry, a lot of people did the same thing you did - assumed they have a virus.

As a ghost hunter and lead investigator of the group here is what we do. First off, since you know that the spirit is not to friendly protect yourself spiritually. Pray for protection if you are christian, use a white light sheild what ever you do in your religion to protect yourself. Secondly use a good quality recorder and a external microphone. Using the internal mic you will get the machine noise generated by the recorder. I have both a dvr (digital voice recorder by olympus {the best one I feel} and a microcassette recorder. Make sure your batteries are fresh and use new tapes. When you go check the weather, if it is to windy then evp recording will be useless all you will get is wind noise, unless you have a wind sock on your mic. Next, do not go alone at least 3 people should go. That is for saftey reasons and for witnesses as well to anything you may get. Next when you are recording do not whisper, your voices can be mistaken as evp's if you whisper. Speak in a clear and direct tone. When you ask questions start simple. Ask things like Whats your name?, Why are you here, ect and progress from there. Also give about 10 to 30 seconds of time in between for the spirit to answer. They don't always answer right after the question. Do not get insulting or demanding to the spirit. Since you know it is not friendly you do not want to provoke it to the point of injuring anyone present (and they can throw things). If you want to Bate them be confrontational but not beligerent. Do not use swear words, it is just dumb. Finally don't expect to get anything, ghosts and such do not perform on que. They are in control and can be present and silent if they wish to be. Also remember do not panic! If you panic and run you could end up hurting yourself by tripping in the dark and such. When you go to listen to your recordings, make sure it is quiet. Evp's come in 3 categories. Class 3 audible voice but cannot make out the words. Class 2 Audible voice but barely make out the words or only a few. And class 1 clear audible voice perfectly understandable. If you have an audio analyzer on your computer download the recording in full on to it and listen through head phones (not earbuds they don't have a clear enough range). You may need to get a patch cord from radio shack. The evp's will be faint most likely or if you're lucky you will get a class 1 but they are rare. I hope this helps. Good luck

If your computer is running Windows XP you should run your antivirus software, then do a System Restore to a restore point that is dated BEFORE the problem started. It is likely that the virus has dropped a .wav file (audio file) and altered the Registry to cause the file to play every 2 minutes. System Restore puts the Registry back the way it was. (You can always undo a System Restore).

i just got it today? you're not crazy :) it happened when i was trying to set up my myspace page. I've just run my norton anti-virus and adware, but nothing came up. Right now it only says that same saying if i'm on my myspace page, so i may ditch my set up if i don't figure it out. Let me know what worked for you, adn i'll do the same if someone gives me a solution.

Best thing I can tell you is to buy some anti-spyware and anti-virus software. I use Trend Micro Anti-Virus. Just any should work though, Hope it helps :)

ROFL, my boss put something on his bosses computer like that, he calls it a "mind molestor program", its honestly probably a joke or something,heh I actually had to help him with this program (it ended up taking us about 5 minutes to finish) if it really annoys you press alt cant delete and see if you can find the name of any program that would be causing it (task killing processes may help here) or muting the sound on your system.

Do you hear this when you're away from the computer too?
Turn on a pop up blocker or anti-virus.
And maybe the voice wont haunt you anymore.

I had a girlfriend who had this problem on her computer, unfortunately it turned out she was nuts and ended up in a mental hospital. This is a true story. Be warned.
