I need to know so i don't go to my mom or the doctor and sound crazy....I have had hemeroids ever since i can remember and i cant get rid of them (my mom said that could be a sign of bowel cancer)...Also i get pains near where u get period pains but they are worse then period pains and they come a lot more often, more then once a day and sometimes they are so bad that i can't move and if i move i think i'm gonna barf, it just hurts so much that i cry and sometimes scream in pain (it kinda feels as if my insides are gonna explode). It hurts also when i have to go to the bathroom...i went to the doctor asking about the pains and he said it was bowel spasms and i need more fibre...well i've been having a lot of fibre (and hate it) but nothing has changed...i need help. Could this be cancer?

It could be... but I doubt it. If you have haemorrhoids and you're getting pain in that general area then it's much more likely that what you have is what's called a "strangulated haemorrhoid" - which basically means there's a large one internally that's got twisted up... any sort of movement is agony!

Haemorrhoids are not really associated with cancer... what your mom is probably thinking of is anal polyps... which are like little buds growing on the inside of your bowel. Some of these are totally harmless, some cause mild irritation and some are the bad guys. In all cases there is not usually that much pain.

I guess you know what I'm going to say next... but here goes anyway... go back to the doctor and explain about the pain and that the fibre isn't doing a lot for you. What I think you need is an internal examination to check you out (there are two types - both are totally embarassing but a lot less painful than a strangulated haemorrhoid and a lot less fatal than cancer... one involves the doc sticking a finger up there to see what he can feel, the other involves a tiny camera on the end of a long flexible hose-type thing).

Go for it and put yourself out of the agony of wondering what you've got and the pain of suffering from whatever it is!

Good luck!!

Probably not. Although bowel cancer is fairly common, 90% of the people who get it are over 50. It also doesn't usually have symptoms, at least in the early stages. It certainly does sound like you have some issues going on: hemmorhoids and serious constipation are nobody's idea of a good time.

If you're in pain, talk to your mom and get another appointment with the doctor. Tell him that a higher-fiber diet isn't helping your symptoms and you need some other options. There's no good reason for you to suffer. You may have a severe food allergy or inflamed bowel disease.

I seriously doubt if you have cancer sweetie...I agree with your doctor, you have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Purchase some preparation H for the hemorroids, lay off of dairy products (cheese, milk, etc...) for a week or two, and YES increase your fiber (wheat bread, oatmeal, etc...) and see if they clear up. Try to watch what you eat and the stomach probs will subside too (if it becomes too bothersome, take some pepto bismol, mylanta, or chew tums). If the abdominal problems continue, you could have a bacterial infection, if so, eat the things that I put in my answer, but also get your mom to take you back to the doctor or a fecal sample to be taken (don't wait until next week, it's better to just go asap) so he/she can do a white blood cell count to see if you have some sort of GI infection producing the pains. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Don't worry yourself about cancer. It sounds like your digestion needs help. Hemorrhoids and pain when having a bowel movement sounds like constipation. Constipation can cause that pain in your abdomen also. Fiber is not always the answer. If you take fiber, you have to have plenty of liquids to go with that or the fiber can turn hard inside of you, like a brick. So drink, drink, drink! Colace is a medicine that will soften your stool, but give it time to work. Try it until you start getting softer stools. Also, help out your digestion by exercising, walking each day. Your intestines may not have enough action to push your food along the tract, therefore staying inside too long, losing moisture and getting hard. That is where exercising helps. Also, massage your abdomen starting where your ovaries are on the right and work your way up to just below your navel, and then back down the left side to your left ovary(like a horseshoe shape). If your intestines don't have enough action on their own, this helps them out. My niece has intestines that don't move properly and she finds help doing this massage. I have to take a fruit and vegetable table and a probiotic tablet.( health food store can help you find these) They are healthy for your whole body and makes your intestines work nicely. If I don't exercise, and take tablets I have pain in my abdomen, constipation and hemorrhoids. You don't have to use fiber. Doesn't sound like that is working for you. Try out these other ways. I bet they will work!

You mum was wrong to frighten you like that. I would say you almost certainly don't have cancer.

You should change your diet so you can go to the toilet more easily. Eat lots of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water. Don't strain when you go. There are creams you can get from the chemist to ease the pain.

If it gets really bad, go to the doctor. I'm sure he will put you right.

I don't know if it's cancer or not. But there's only one way to find out right? Time to talk to your Mom and make a doctor's appointment. The sooner the better. You'll be okay.
