Relax! At that point in pregnancy, your baby did not even have a beating heart. (The heart starts beating in the fifth week) Many many many people drink and continue on potentially dangerous medications until the 6-7th week accidently because they are unaware of the pregnancy. It happens all the time! Also- some women are actually prescribed sleeping aids DURING pregnancy- so don't worry!
Oh... and congrats on being pregnant!

Hi there. I am not a doctor but I do pregnancy counseling and I have had a great deal of experience.
I can tell you that no one will be able to give you an answer unless you offer the name of the medication that you took. Was it a prescription medication? If so, does it say on the bottle not to take it if you are, or think you might be pregnant? The same goes for an over the counter medication, read the label carefully and see what it says.
Another important piece of information would be the date of your last menstrual period, with that it would be possible to look at where you were from a developmental standpoint at that time.
Having said all that there is really nothing that you can do about it now anyway. Hopefully you were not far enough along for the medication to have had any effect on the baby, it is quite possible that implantation had not even occurred yet.
It is premature for you to be upset now, there are just too many variables that are not answered.
Be sure to talk to your doctor about it when you see her. I would also take the bottle of sleeping pills with you so that she can see exactly what you took. I bet she will be able to make you feel lots better!
Take care and try not to worry.
Blessings
Lady Trinity~

i am sure your baby is just fine. i am not a doctor, but i am 36 weeks pregnant, and i took ambien for over 2 months of my pregnancy. i have stopped now, so the baby won't have any withdrawls when she is born. most doctors try to avoid sleep aids like ambien if they can, but in necessary situations they are okay with it. i was only sleeping about 45 minutes a night, and with a 2 year old to chase during the day - i never would have made it. and my 2 yr old would have suffered for it too.

so dont be worried. at 2 weeks pregnant, it is likely the sleeping medication had absolutely no effect on the fetus anyway. even if it did, it is nothing to worry about. most women do not even realize they are pregnant that early, so they continue to drink, smoke, take meds, whatever, and it rarely has an effect on the baby (as long as they stop when they realize they are pregnant!).

congrats on your pregnancy!

I'm not a dr. but you should be fine. I was taking 2 sleeping pills everynight when I found out I was pregnant. My ob said just stop taking them now.

Towards the end of my pregnancy (2-3rd trimester) the dr. even prescribed tylenol PM for me because if insomnia so it must not be too bad on the fetus.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and start taking those prenatals and folic acid!

Don't worry about it. Chances are it caused little, if any effect on the baby. Let your OB know about it at your prenatal visit. Perhaps they may do an ultrasound earlier. Many women have gotten drunk or taken a drug before they found out they were pregnant. It's mainly those who are abusive of drugs and alcohol that have babies with problems.

this early in pregnancy your baby is still living off of the yolk sac and not you so chances of you hurting your baby is slim. But i would talk to your doc about taking anymore.

The baby will be sleeping for awhile. This works on newborns too.
