I'm a very smart girl. I have a full ride to college, and I enjoy working there. Why do people think it's so bad?

It's only bad when you are 30 and still flipping burgers. When you are student, it's perfectly fine.

It depends on the franchise owner. Some could be a nice place for a partime job, some are just dumps. That goes with any franchise though. You shouldn't care what other people think. Yes, people say you don't want to be flipping burgers at Mcdonalds when you're older. However, you are not older, you're still a teen. Nobody is going to look down on you for working. You are being responsible and mature by getting a job. If you don't feel comfortable working there, then don't. You will be spending time there and customers are going to see you. If that is going to be a problem, then go look elsewhere. Keep in mind though, you were rejected from other jobs, so right now, this is what you have. If it sucks, you can always quit.

I've worked at McDonalds, was there for almost 5 years. They treated the employees like crap. They didn't give breaks like they should. And does one 20 minute break sound good to any of you during an 8 hour work day? You have to eat your food and be back at your station in 20 minutes, that is the only break you get for the whole day. That is if the manager decides to give you one. I worked several times where I put in 7 hours without one. Try standing on your feet that long and working your tail off, especially when some workers didn't show up. I could go on and on about the crap that went on at the McDonalds around here in Iowa. Also have you ever had your manager make you toast Mac buns that mice have gotten into? Customers acutally ate them.

I don't think it's bad working there. I used to work in Fast Food. The only think I didn't like was smelling like it at the end of the day.
There is nothing wrong if someone's dream is to own a McD's.
I think most people look down in working in Fast Food because of the nature of the work, yet the same exact people go to these places and buy food. I often wonder how they would get food if there was no one to serve them. Fast food isn't bad, you just have to love the fast pace and enviornment. I think everyone should work in Fast Food so they can appreciate the people that work there.

Small minded people can't see your plan and are only thinking about how it looks to be working at a fast food place but you have goals its not like your settling in there as a career. If you enjoy the job and the people then I think it is a perfect way to earn money while your in school.

because it doesn't take a lot of brain power so people consider it a job that can be done without any education or intelligence. Obviously the most challenging part is being a chashier, but even that is automated (electronic cash register), so not much brain power is needed. But hey, if you like it, awesome. Work is work. Maybe work your way up to being a manager or owning a McDonald's yourself one day.

I'm an Ultrasound Tech But Whiile going to school for 4 years, one of my jobs was McD's. It was the hardest experience ever, but only because McD's was my only source of income and I was living on my own. There's nothing wrong with working in McD's.... Although in my case I had to look for a better paying job cuz like I mentioned, I was living on my own and only making about $350 for every two weeks. But if you live with your parents, that can support you financially, McD's is a really good job for a student. I personally loved working there. A lot of corporations out there have a lot of respect for McD's. Keep it up!!

There's nothing wrong with it, especially if you enjoy it. When you like what you do and give it your best effort, you'll be happy. People tend to look down on the job as menial because it's fun for them to put other people down. Some people have the wrong idea that people only work there because they have to or because they can't get something "better." Don't listen to them. Just have fun and enjoy life by being true to yourself.

Well, I bet you are fortunate to work at one that's fun with great employees and managers. Besides, this is just a stop on the way to your real career someday, so you can earn some money, know it is temporary, and enjoy the job.
