Southpark Mall for shopping, Mint Museum of Art, History Museum on Shamrock Dr., Uptown clubs , restaurants and bars (all walking distance) on Fri & Sat nights (things start late btw). The Penguin restaurant for afternoon lunch in Plaza-Midwood neighborhood, or Pike's soda fountain on South Blvd. Mrs. Pike makes all the foods and cakes homemade. My favorite is the hummingbird cake and her grilled meatloaf sandwich. You have to go to a store on the isle where they sell the bacon and buy Neese's Liver Pudding. A local favorite. Slice it and fry it till crisp and brown. mmmmm. Rusan Sushi Bar in Dilworth neighborhood is a lot of fun. Loud techno music, toonami screens, yelling and performing sushi chefs. This is also a place that gets started late, usually before hitting downtown clubs. There are too many upscale, fancy froufrou restaurants to mention, but Bonterra off of East Blvd in Dilworth is in a renovated old historic church, has ambiance and 200 wines by the glass. If you like thrift store shopping go to Value Village on Central Avenue. There is a hippy-dippy art district on North Davidson Street (NoDa) with restaurants and art shops. Concord Mills is an Outlet mall near the Nascar Speedway with Saks and other outlets. I'm sure I've forgotten something important, but that's off the top of my head.

The NC Zoo in Asheboro isn't too far from Charlotte.
The Schiele Museum in Gastonia, just a few miles from Charlotte.
King's Mountain Battlefield, Revolutionary War site
Check Blumenthal Performing Arts Center for their schedule.
The Mint Museum
James K Polk Center in Pineville

My pick would be the Mint and the NC Zoo if I had to stay in Charlotte.

If you have never been to the NC mountains, a day trip would be great. Asheville is a bit over 100 miles. Closer would be Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Park. Dirty Dancing was filmed at Lake Lure, they have boat tours and a great lunch at the Lake Lure Inn or The Esmeralda.

Hi.
I live in Charlotte.
Its pretty sad but there's nothing to do.
You know what the sad part is?
One of our biggest tourist attractions is an outlet mall... Concord Mills.
And sometimes we have races at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
And we're famous for all our banks downtown I guess.
But, yes, honestly nothing to do.
There's some pretty upscale and fun shopping and dining at Southpark Mall.
Its mostly for kids but an interactive museum named Discovery Place is sort of fun.
About 5 minutes from where I live is a historic plantation called Latta Plantation. Its really pretty. Not too much to write home about, but its nice. If you're here why not see it, right?
And on the SC border, about 15 minutes from downtown charlotte is the Carowinds theme park.
& yes, I am ashamed to say thats about it.
Oh and at Concord Mills there's a NASCAR speed park [go karts and stuff].
anyway.
i hope you attempt to have fun in my rotten hometown.
i can't wait to move.
enjoy what you can!

we could continually actually push for greater drilling and be based on a constrained source. ingredient word- I stay in Charlotte, i ultimately stumbled on gas the different night after employing previous 15 stations that have been out.

Yeah NC period is just plain boring. I'm really sorry you have to go there. I would be a nice place to retire. lol
