I have a washing machine that is 5 years old. It needs some repairs. I need to dispose this off as I want to buy a new one. Are there any stores who buy used appliances ?

Depends on where you live. The local recycler (penneysaver) has places that sell older washers/dryers. So they might even pay you a few dollars for your old one. Look in the free racks at the local grocery store and you might find a solution. It's tedious reading but it might be just the solution you need.

You could possibly have the place where you buy the new washer take it away when they bring the new one. Many places will take the old unit along and dispose of it for you. Some may want $20 or so but then you are rid of it.

If the salesman promises to have the old unit carted off for you at no charge make sure that he puts it in writing on the sales slip to avoid confusion with the delivery men.

There are but realistically you won't get much of anything for it. Put it outside in plain view and put a for sale sign on it. Someone will steal it for sure.
