Hey.

Recently (Today), I bought a Belkin ADSL2+ Wireless-G Modem Router (F5D7632-4).

On getting it home, I tried setting it up. The disk that came with it didn't have any setup-stuff on (The disk contained a link to Belkin's site, product registration, and a manual), so I follow the instructions.

I plugged all the wires in that the manual said (ADSL - microfilter, Ethernet - computer, plug socket - router) and the "Power", "Ethernet 1", "ADSL (Phone looking thing)" and "Wireless" LEDs came on.

As far as I can see, this is right. However, I then went and tried to get to "192.168.2.1", which is what it tells me to. All I get there is a "Connection could not be made" and tries to connect to the old modem.

My old modem was a USB one (BT Voyager 105) which worked fine, but this one's an Ethernet one.

Does anyone have any idea what might be up? I can't connect to it..

Oh, and I'm not particularly knowledgable in networking and the like, so the simpler the reply, the better please!

Reflection&&Memories: Yeah, I'm connecting my computer up to the router with a wire. I really want the wireless mainly for my Wii and DS, since it's the only way I can connect to the internet on them.

The CD that comes with it does have instructions, but that's what I'm following. It says go to 192.168.2.1, but I can't get there. Thanks anyway =D

woodie2007: drivers? The CD that comes with it only has an instruction manual with it, it doesn't give me an option of installing any drivers...

1willie1: I do have mostly computer literacy, just not in the particular area of networking. =p Yes, I know what the address bar is, and it is in there that I am typing in 192.168.2.1, but nothing is happening, I just get "Could not connect" and "Cannot connect to the page offline" in Firefox and/or IE.

Wireless routers can be such a pain, especially if you don't know much about them.
I had the same problem setting up mine, in the end i had to call a computer person round to help set it up.
Honestly, i had so much trouble i went completely beserk.
Surely it came with an instruction CD rom?
=/
Have a further look.
Or you could phone the Belkin helpline.
Wireless means you don't need any wires, just a wireless adapter, you're supposed to get one with the wireless router.

Oh, hmm, i have a netgear one, which is probably very different but you really don't need a wire.
Are you sure you didn't get a wireless adapter with your router package? You can use the wire of course, but it'd just be like having regular broadband.
I had to go to a very similar site, but before all that i had to install drivers.
I'd suggest taking your router back to the store you got it from and asking them to set it up in store on one of their computers/laptops, so you can see exactly what to do so you can do the same at home. Or if all else fails, ask a neighbour to help, or someone more experienced with the networking. Honestly, speaking from experience, having an expert really does help, and it's much better when they can see the problem, as we can't really help on here when we can't see it.
I've now rambled on and have given no help whatsoever. =/

make sure that your belkin is connected to the phonejack where dsl is installed // connect one pc directly to belkin using ethernet // configure first belkin on what type of dsl service you have ( PPPoE or STATIC ) // manual config is to access 192.168.2.1 if you cant access these, use MY COMPUTER as the browser, you have an address bar on that if address bar not showing click view & go to toolbars, chk address bar

if these will not work call belkin tech support 1 800 223 5546 ( support is 24/7 )

I have the same system and when I inserted the disc it followed all procedures correctly and then told me how to connect the hardware, the instructions state install drivers first before connecting hardware, so if you plugged in your router first then remove from system and start again, hope this sorts it out 4 u

There are repeaters that can boost the signal. Check D-link or Linksys web sites Word of caution - repeaters can only amplify what they receive. Remember the GIGO factor - garbage in garbage out. You may be pushing the limits on this one without doing some work with antennas

You are right you dont get an installation cd.
Are you putting 192.168.2.1 in the address bar, not the search bar.
The address bar reads http://
Delete what is in there and type 192.168.2.1 this should open your setup wizard.
If you get stuck there ask again.

try pinging 192.168.2.1
