Mine are calculated in hours. I get 80 hours vaca; 60 hours sick; 10 holidays a year. I work for a small company. But, you forgot to ask how long we have been with the employer. I have been here 2 years. The job I left b/c of a buy out had better benefits. It was with a corporation. I got 280 hours a year for vaca, sick, holiday to use as I chose to. PLUS, you did not lose time at the end of the year, unless you had over 240 hours.
I live in Alabama & "do" medical billing.

I'm in CA. Work for a multi-billion dollar tech hardware manufacturer.

New employees get 12 days of vacation time per year, and 6 vacation days.

I've been here for a few years, so I'm now earning 16 vacation days per year...Still only 6 sick days, that doesn't change.

During the off-season my employer allows for very liberal time off. During the peek time I am expected to work anywhere between 10 to 18 hours a day, and some weekends, for 4 months.

I work for a small business.

It depends on how much I work. I get so much time accumulated by how many hours I work a week. On sick days, I can put in a request for Paid Time Off. I have off all holidays and weekends and state approved holidays. I work for the State of Louisiana.
