Recently in California they have been trying to pass a law that makes it illegal to spank your own child.

Smoking is now banned in all public areas in California, Arizona, etc.....in Arizona you cannot even smoke in a bar.

What is next? Do you think its right that we no longer have certain choices? Will they at some point ban alchohol? Red meat? They are already banning Trans Fats from our food in New York.
Will we be able to disipline our children at all?
I would like to know your opinions. I think eventually we will have NO rights left.
Please give honest opinions.

Ok i am not saying it should be allowed for someone to smoke in a restaurant ,right in front of you or your kids if you don't smoke, But I recently quit smoking because all of the rights of smokers in Arizona and California are gone there is nowhere you can smoke at all, I just took my kids to California and I had to walk all the way around Disneyland to the one smoking area everytime I wanted a ciggerette OUTSIDE! I was outside the whole time but, it didn't matter I had to walk 2 miles to one area of the park....... ridiculous
Bars in AZ now are smoke free, You cannot even have one in a bar! Thats just stupid, Now they are banning it outside on public sidewalks too
Oh yes and they are trying to pass it in your own car If you have kids.
And if you think they won't do it to food Look at New York They already banned trans fats there completley! I liked them thank you very much I am not obese or over weight why can't I have something bad for me if I want it? They have gone too far!

Yes, things are going to far. The next thing will be age restrictions on McDonald's and other fast food places. You'll have to be 18 or with an adult to buy food their. Don't believe me? Ask the tobacco industry and the restaurants in New York.

Edit: Somehow I knew someone would bring up gay marriage in all of this. Geesh.

For some things, they have gone too far. For others, not far enough.

I don't mind the smoking in public areas that are indoor and confined spaces. I shouldn't be made to breath someone else's cigarette smoke, and I certainly don't enjoy smelling like I was rolling around in a fireplace.'

As for spanking your child, that is just going too far. Spanking is an important facet in many situations. There is always such a thing as moderation, but I firmly believe that a good swat on the backside serves a purpose that words sometimes just don't convey.

Currently, we have a whole lot of things banned, and the conservative and religious right want to remove every possible activity in life that you may enjoy/want/need that they don't approve of.

Personally, I'm all for "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" that we are supposed to get. However, when someone else's access to those impacts me in a negative way, then some sort of compromise is in order.

Not being able to smoke in a resturant is hardly a horrible thing. Not being able to smoke, period, is.

I'm more worried about the current trend to make sure that certain elements of our population cannot be treated equally. It offends me deeply that we are wasting so much time worrying about gays and lesbians getting married, when we still have about 20% of all couples getting divorced. Yet this is of such importance that it often overshadows other issues that ARE important to all of us.

Yeah, we are one messed up society.

Yes, the laws have gone too far. However, it has been like this for a long time. There are many draconian laws that are useless and do nothing more than restrict our freedom. The problem is that the people don't stand up and challenge the law makers. Call your senators and representives and voice your opinions. If everybody would exercise their rights then things wouldn't be so bad.

The law is going to far. You should be able to spank your kids in order to control them. Did you hear about a couple with their 3 year old daughter who got kicked out of an airplane because the daughter didn't sit in her seat. and the parents are mad at the airlines. If my daughter wouldn't sit down I would be spanking her on the plane in front of everybody. That would probably calm her down. I was spanked for things i did. If the government goes any farther with laws like that you won't be able to touch anybody anymore even if you are married to them.

This has actual long previous too far. females hugging females is basically a demonstration of friendship, generally. adult men hugging females is somewhat a distinctive matters... if huge quantities of human beings are groping interior the hallway- then perhaps you do desire the regulation, yet while that is in basic terms some couples.. then the regulation isn't mandatory in any respect. they are making this occasion lots greater beneficial than that is. A intense-5 is a teach of friendship and not with the flexibility to do this is basically stupid. A intense-5 does not harm you, basically like a hug does not harm you. whether you're in 8th grade or in intense college like me, you're appropriate, they have long previous way too far. while friendly expressions won't be able to additionally be used... there's a great concern. How does your communities mom and dad sense approximately this difficulty? perhaps they approve the cuddling regulation (which i do no longer approve of) , yet no way is intense-5ing a huge deal. Hugging is distinctive with mom and dad, i've got self belief, because of the fact as my father says "touching leads to hugging, hugging leads to kissing, kissing leads to making out, and making out leads to infants." haha. basically see what you're able to do which includes your friends to make a distinction in this idiotic, loopy concern! wish I helped, Kay

yes and the cons share the blame with libs. we may not know what is next and don't really matter. someone who supports one ban, will one day wake up to something they like being banned. it is beyond me why anyone thinks one side is too blame, both are guilty of representing lobbyists and corporations.

Spanking is for parents who don't put in enough effort to discipline their kids in other ways and take the easy way out by hitting them. Smokers should respect people who don't smoke or who have asthma or any other medical condition in which smoke could potentially harm them and make in difficult for them to breathe. People who are drinking alcohol don't pour it down your throat, people who eat meat don't force you to eat it too, therefore they wouldn't ban those things.
