I have a guitar and a piano. But I don't know which one to choose as a first instrument. They both interests me, but what should I begin with to get the grounds in an easy way ?

Easiest isn't always the best. Although I prefer the guitar to the piano as a listener, I would suggest starting with the piano, especially if you want to learn to read music properly and to understand chord structures. Many guitarists become lazy and start playing by "tabs" instead of sheet music.

It's easier to be a mediocre guitarist than to be a mediocre pianist.

I have played piano much longer than guitar, but from my experience I like piano a lot better. Guitar typically is better with an accompaniment (but not always), while piano can more or less stand on its own. Also, piano will give you a lot of the theory and background necessary in music. This may make learning guitar later to be an easier task. Guitar usually deals with tablature, which basically just tells you where to put your fingers. It doesn't give you too much insight into the theory behind the music. The upside to guitar, in my opinion, is that it is MUCH easier to transport... probably still easier even if you just have a keyboard instead of a piano. It's all up to you though. Piano is much more versatile in the pieces you can play, but guitar you can "rock out" on... Good luck with whatever you choose!

I play guitar, but I wish I started with piano. To be honest guitar is much cooler and I love it. But if you play piano as a 1st instrument, you will understand music alot better and guitar will be easy.

i suggest the piano because its real easy and the keys can be picked up really quick (i began when i was seven )besides, notes are the same in practically all instruments so the guitar will be easier to learn after the piano

I think you should start on the piano. It will be easier to learn how the notes sound, which will help you with guitar. So one helps the other, see!

PIANO! It's a lot easier and it's a good way to learn notes on the measure easily. That's what happened to me.

PIANO!!! You can learn anything after that. Piano is great for learning the basic music theory you need. I wish I had learned it first.

Good luck

start with piano if you want to be able to read music, then pick up the guitar. it will be easier to play if you know how to read music.
