Like if someone says something rude and you can't think of a good comeback or something. Almost like you can't think for a second.

If I don't know what to say, I generally don't say anything.
If, however, I have the presence of mind to think of a response, I try to be assertive (not mean or aggresive) and let them know why what they said was wrong. Being able to do this on the spot takes practice and a lot of inner calm. (I'm working on getting some).

Anyone who has read any of my answers will know I ALWAYS have something to say. Bummer. Anyway, in those rare occasions when I don't, a clever comeback to a rude comment always comes to me AFTER I'm no longer around the person who was rude. Don't you hate that?

I usually say nothing.

Those moments when you feel compelled to respond are also those moments when you say something stupid.
