Take them the whole time they supplement your diet and ensure a healthy baby. Besides you don't want to do anything that later on you will question yourself for. I did not eat any fast food, or drink any soda and my daughter is beautiful and so healthy. It was a small price to pay for such a wonderful child. She's 5 now does not wear glasses has perfect hearing, has good cognitive skills, and is eloquent. More than a mother can ask for. Matter of fact I wouldn't do it any other way. So when I think about having another I think If I'm not willing to make the same sacrafices it's not fair to the child to not have the same advantages as she did.

You don't stop prenantal vitamins until the pregnancy is over. I'm still taking them while I breastfeed for the added vitamins. There are specific things in them (like folic acid) which are really important for a developing fetus.

You take them through the whole thing and for a few weeks after if you plan to breastfeed. The additional nutrients will allow your body to heal faster and make you less fatigued as your body gets used to producing milk. If you are on regular daily vitamines you can make do with a small folic acid supliment (through pregnancy) and an additional calcium supliment. A lot of people will argue that folic acid isn't necessary past 14 weeks, but folic acid is a type of iron, and if you are prone to anemia it's definitly best to continue with it.

Absolutely keep taking them. You really need to take them for the first year of your child's life, at least, especially if you are breast feeding. Your body will get so depleted of the vitamins and minerals during the "year of pregnancy" that you truly need to keep taking them daily even after your baby comes. There's almost no way you could get the needed vitamins and minerals by food alone and don't you want to give your child the best chance - and yourself too?

You need to take them through the whole pregnancy and suggest to take them for about a month afterwards. If you stop them.. it can affect your teeth. Sometimes the growing baby will start to steal vitamins from you and calcium from your teeth. If they are making you sick, try to change them or take 2 children vitamins a day. Congrats and good luck.

You are suppose to take them through your entire pregnancy, they are good for baby and you. You even take them after baby comes, breastfeeding or not, they help with postpartum depression. A friend of mine had the blues after baby came, and the doctor told her to go back on the vitamins and thats all she needed, and shes been great every since.

Normally you have to take them even after you deliver. The baby needs all the extras, especially if you plan on nursing. The reason for the vitamins is that, its pretty normal that we don't eat the way we really should be, and the baby needs the nourishment.Good luck and keep downing the vits!

You take them for your entire pregnancy.

If you are having trouble keeping them down or you're finding they are expensive, My OB/GYN suggested 2 Flinstones vitamins a day as a good substitute.

Plus I found that taking extra Vitamin B complex helped with morning sickness and fatigue. Big Time.

I took the vitamins throughout my whole pregnancy. And still took them after my children were born because I was nursing them. The Dr. took me off the vitamins when I quit nursing. The vitamins are good for you and for you baby.

Prenantal vitamins are just vitamins. They just give you an extra dose for you and baby. You can take them forever. Take them as long as you are pregnant and if you plan on bottle feeding, take the vitamins until they are gone. If you are breast feeding, take them until you switch to bottle.
