The loss of a pet is akin to a family bereavement. You have had the love of your dog for 11 years. Cherish it. Is the dog buried in your garden?. I have a little corner where a few of my pets are buried beside some rose bushes. I visit and speak to them every day. I know I looked after them well and I get great comfort from that. You will too. Time albeit slowly, will heal your grief. I am sorry.

my sister just lost her pup 2 wks ago and she has him for a yr and a half. we grieve b/c animals are our best friends..they are there to hear our problems and they neva once say anything to judge us. they are there to lick our tears away and cuddle with us when we are sad. they can sense it. animals (cats and dogs) are good for lowering blood pressure too. i mean they are made into family too. like our children. thats why we grieve. and it is good to cry and get it out. u cry b/c u have all those great memories with your dog. he/she was with you for a long time so he/she has made an inpact on your life and has been there with you for a while. grew up with you and even probably experienced some things with you. you prolly had the pup since it was a lil baby. i mean it is hard. but just remember that the dog is in a better place now. no pain or anyhting and u will see your pup again one day. okay. you pup is watching over you and taking care of you.

So sorry for your loss. Felt the same thing when my mom gave away my 2 dogs when i was away from home for college coz she doesn't want to take care of them. I cried a lot and that was a long long time ago but I can still remember the pain. They do become a member of the family and they're our "best friend". Do get yourself a new pet.

I am really sorry to hear that. Why you can not stop crying is because, pets have been included into our human families. They become like our sibling, friend, etc. I believe that it is natural to feel the loss of your pet, whom you long to be with. Maybe this the time to look for a puppie or kitten. Not to fill that gap, not to replace the previous pet, but to help you along. To have another friend.

I can imagine your pain. I found a puppy that was set out on the side of the road. she set up infection and it was too advanced for the vet to save her. she died in my arms while i cried listening to her cry in pain. I cried constant for 4 days after she passed. I visited her grave every day to talk to her and let her know that I still loved her. It gave me a sort of peace to be able to tell her goodbye.

Losing a pet you have had for so long is like losing someone you loved most dearly. When they pass in such an unexpected and horrible way, you feel bad. I've had people tell me how terrible they felt because their pet was alone when he/she passed. Also that they needed some sort of closure because they never got to say a proper goodbye to their loved pet.

Try to trust that your pet is in a good place. He or She is looking down on you and knows that you still carry a strong love for them in your heart. It is never easy to lose a pet. Eventually you will find a way to ease your pain. In the meantime, if you need someone to talk to about it, I'm here if you need me. I know I'm a stranger to you, but I will do anything to help ease the heart of someone who has lost a loved pet.

God Bless you and Keep you.

Because dogs especially (but other animals too) offer unconditional love and acceptance. You can rage and yell at your dog and two seconds later he's licking your face and telling you how much he loves you. They know when you're happy, scared or sad and try to help. Someone said a dog has all of man's best characteristics without the bad ones. Many dogs have saved their owner's lives at the cost of their own. Kipling was right in his poem, "The Power of the Dog"...they can tear your heart to pieces and not even leave a mark. (Google the poem, it's too long to post.)
Cry your tears and mourn as long as you need to...you'll never find another friend as faithful as a dog.

I am so sorry for your loss. I wept for a week after we had to put our cat down.

We grieve because we love them so deeply. No, they can't speak, they can't help out around the house, and they provide no income into the household. What they DO provide is unconditional love and acceptance.

You will heal eventually, but let yourself grieve. I'm sure your dog deserves it.

So sorry for you, pets are one of the family, we love them, they love us in return, 11 years is a long time to bond and then suddenly loose, it takes time to get over.
