I am 11 weeks and this is my first baby. For the past couple of days I have been having this weird feeling behind my pubic bone area where my uterus is.

It feels like a slight twitch and almost like small barely noticeable “punches” in my uterus.

I felt the “punches” 5 times today in a row, and yesterday was very similar.

Is this just my uterus growing, is it gas in my uterus area or can it be my baby?

Generally speaking, fetus are constantly moving. At 11 weeks, the fetus is big enought to feel even the slightess movements. However, you would need to go through some type of diagnostic procedure to determine what those "punches" are, such as an ultrasound. Babies tend to kick or punch when they feel uncomformity. They are surrounded by a lot in there; placenta, umbelical cord, and not to mention a very reduced space to move around. Some times the umbelical cord may get tangled around their arms or feet, and (hope never happens) around their neck. When that happens they try to get them selves untangled, and as a result, they either kick or punch until they get untangled or feel comfortable. Another possibility could when the baby has hick-ups, or just simply streching. However, you shouldn't underestimate other possibilities that may be causing those punches. Make sure you see an OB/GYN doctor regularly and have an ultrasound at least once or twice a month.

i felt my little one for the first time at 18 weeks, and it was very faint.

here's what babycenter.com says about 11 weeks

Your fig-size baby is now fully formed — measuring 1 1/2 inches long and weighing in at a quarter of an ounce. His skin is still transparent, allowing many of his blood vessels to show through. Some of his bones are beginning to harden. His fingers and toes have separated, and he may soon be able to open and close his fists. He's already busy kicking and stretching, and his tiny movements are so fluid they look like water ballet. These movements will increase as his body grows and becomes more developed and functional. As your baby's diaphragm develops, he may also start getting the hiccups. Because he's still so small, you won't feel any of his aquatic workouts or intrauterine gulps for another month or so.

I thought I felt mine at 14 weeks, but it went away. I felt him for sure at 18 weeks. Im sure it is your uterus expanding or your round ligaments twitching under the pressure of having to expand.Your muscles could be getting ready to separate too. A lot of things happen to your body between 10 and 15 weeks.

Good luck and Congrats!

Uuhh... yes it is possible that the umbelical cord can get tangled around the nneck. I'm an RN and work in the Labor and Delivery room. Althought I've never had a patient with that problem, but it has happened here at the hopital where I work. In fact when going to school I learned that 1 out of 25 women can actually have their babies tangled in with the umbelical cord and result in a fatal death. Not here to scare you but just for you to be aware and and informed with correct info and not misleaded info like the lady on top. In fact everything RKB said on his quote is coerrect.

Dont pay attention to the person who says that your baby has no room and that the cord might be around the neck... That person sounds like my mom........... CRAZY!

But, you can definetly start feeling a little something actually if you are really small to begin with. It is, however, unlikely if you suddenly start feeling "punches" all the time when you have never felt them before. If you felt them gradually get more active, then its definetly the baby. If not, then its just your ligements stretching.

I am 18 weeks now and I told my family members @ around 10-11 weeks that I thought I could feel the baby too! But of course I was gassy at the time.....lol, but this is my 3rd and I am thin so I am really unsure, I can feel the baby really well now and was positive that it was the baby around 13-14 weeks........So I say yep you can probably feel it even if others think you are crazy.......
