It is arguable whether or not it is "important." You don't have to.
It is a pretty big deal to some people, however, due to the high quality of big screen tvs these days. The detail is quite impressive. The sound quality is excellent. And the wide screens allow you to see more of what is actually going on. It creates a situation that is more accurate and life-like, making the game more fun to enjoy.
Still, it is a matter of priority and preference, moreso than a matter of "importance." I'll be watching the game on a regular, ol' tv, and I'll be perfectly happy doing it.

If you can't be at a football game (where they also have big screen coverage), you want to replicate whatever will give you that feeling of being there so you experience even more of the excitement and can watch the plays and players big time!!! This is where big screen technology serves Americans the best!!! This is, after all, The FootBall Game of All Games, and we want it delivered as big and clear and real as possible!!! You know, we aren't there...but we are there!!!

For starters if its bigger than its more high definition it would feel like your there. Another reason is so everyone at your house can see the game. And the last reason is it is the Superbowl for crying out loud if it ain't a high quality picture its a disgrace against football.

OMG! If you don't know then you obviously DO NOT watch football! There's no explanation I can give you to make you understand....so just learn to except the fact "You MUST watch the Superbowl on a big screen HDTV!"
Once you except this fact then you will begin to understand the why lol
DA BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More like watching the game in person. Also, HD TV is phenomenal for watching sports--I especially like to watch basketball in HD--it's 3 dimensional.
