There is this military type harsh hostel for boys in which a new teacher comes.This teacher is soft and does not believe in hitting the kids like the other staff members....he gives the kids singing lessons and discoveres a boy with a good voice who later on becomes a famous maybe opera singer...its about how the teacher handles the kids who are always playing pranks and hurting the staff...and ya the head of school has this saying "action reaction"...as in hitting the kids when they misbehave.....it starts with the famous singer getting this teacher's diary after his death and then he thinks about his school days....and how he didn't like this teacher and played pranks on him...please help me with it.

That is such a wonderful movie. I originally watched it because it had been nominated for an Oscar in 2004, and I'm so glad I did. I love that film!! Gérard Jugnot was so incredible as the lovable Clément Mathieu and the ending makes me cry every time!!

Believe it was the Chorus... pretty so so film.
