I couldnt swallow those pills either. So me and my doctor came up with a different solution that was much better then my baby not getting the nutrients at all. I take a childrens chewable flinstone vitamin and a (very small) folic acid supplement. Folic acid is very important early in pregnancy. But be sure before you change up you vitamins that you talk to your doc or midwife! Good Luck!

I don't know about cheable pills...but I am in the same boat!! I have never been able to swallow large pills! A trick I used to do was try to cut them into peices and swallow them with some type of juice so the flavor would be better. Or depending on the pill...could you crush them up and put them into something that you like to eat? crush them up and put them in chocolate syrup over ice cream and that way the taste isn't so bad. Or put them in something you like. Vitamins are important for developing babies! Good luck!

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!!!
You will have to go to a store that has a HUGE vitamines section. If you lived in Longview Tx, I'de tell you to go to Drug Emporium and talk to the folks in their vitamines section called "vitamins plus". If you can find a store that has 5+ wal-mart sized isles dedicated to vitamines, mineral, and suppliments go there. There should be either chewable or liquid form of vitamines, the liquid is usually citrus/orange flavoured. Compare the ingrediants in your vits to those in regular vitamines, you may be able to use vitamines not labeled as "pre-natal"
You should know that fact in case you find that the pre-natals are higher in price...they still have the same ingredients as regular vitamines but they ARE targeted towards helping your developing child grow and to also help you during that time. So while regular vits aren't going to have the exact same, you might be able to find some that are close enough...your doc can explain that better...or your nurse.
BUT TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR FIRST!!!

I'd talk to your doctor about it. But in the meantime, take a couple of flintstone vitamins and a folic acid supplement. That's what my sister's doctor told her to do when the prenatal vitamins made her sick.

You can take over the counter One-a-day plus iron. If you eat healthy, dont worry about it. I never took any pre-natal vitamins and had 2 healthy babies. Make sure you are getting enough folic acid though.

Yes, there are chewables. My doctor gave me a sample of them before. Until you talk to your doctor you can also take 2 flinstone (kids vitiamins). That will help give you and your baby what you need. Congrats!

I don't know of any chewables. Have you tried to cut them in half or quarters? Maybe you could crush it and blend it into a smoothy.
