to care for and why? I'm looking to get one of these pets when I move out. I know nothing about some of these mentioned because I never had them. Help!

If you know nothing, then start with the smallest. They're usually the easiest, and cheapest for maintenance too. I'd recommend hamsters, cos the lifespan is usually about 2 years. By then, you'll know if you're ready for more responsibilities.

I have a syrian hamster named peaches. She loves to use her exercise wheel and also likes to go outside in her travel case. Last week we took her to a hamster race and she won the semifinals, but another hamster beat her in the championship. Anyways she is peach color and kind of fat. She likes to run up the slide in Her cage and loves to eat, Especially berry drop treats and chew sticks I got her. I built her a little playground using a box , TP rolls, an igloo, a car and a tv that I got her. The Car has the tv attached to it because it's a news van, then I have the igloo attached to a tp roll for a tunnel into the home. I love to videotape her running around and playing in the playground. She also has 1 annoying habit, chewing on her cage bars.

In my opinion, rabbits are the best and most fun, but they definitely are not the easiest. They can make excellent house pets, and can be litterbox trained. However, they should be spayed/neutered just as cats and dogs. Check out http://www.rabbit.org to see if rabbits would be a good choice for you.

I agree with Sarah. They are so easy to care for. They are almost like cats. (And without all the hair sheeding everywhere.) You can teach them to use a litterbox so when they get out and run around they just go over and do their business. But like Sarah said I would recomend two. Since they are so easy to care for, just in case they get bored they will keep each other company. I also recomend adopting from an animal shelter, that's where mine came from. They are so sweet and so adorable. Hope this helps.

We really love our hamster. We've had Hamtaro for almost three years and she's a perfect pet. She's easy to care for--daily food and checking of her water bottle, and a good cage cleaning once a week. She's tame and lets us hold her. She's very funny--she likes to hang from the top of her cage. She's never bitten us and does not smell which is a plus!

i have two Bunnies and they get along great, when i am at work they keep eachother intertained and then when i am at home i let them out and they are free to roam around, they are both litter box trained and they love to chase my cat, who does not seem to mind them one bit. I would recommend a boy and a girl as long as they are altered they get along the best!! Good luck with you.

I use to have a hamster and he was great! He would stick everything in his big cheeks, but he slept alot and he stayed in his house that he stuff full of beding so it was hard to get him out to play. I have also had rat's and they are a mess! they smell, they poop all the time! >.<
But i must say that they were very smart and sociable creatures, i had males and they insisted on spraying on everything! including my sisters leg, which was actaully kinda funny...
But yea definatly a bunny!!

no animals should be caged, for instance, my rabbit is litter box trainded and sleeps with me in my bed every night, my brother has a pet rat that he lets roam his bedroom all day and has trainded him to use a litter boxx as well.

Gerbils. They're friendly, don't bite as much as hamsters, clean. They don't smell. And they seem to like their cage and don't try to escape even if you leave the door open.
