My father was murdered in 1980 in Sacramento, Ca. I discovered how this happened through microfiche research of newspaper archives.
Around midnight he had been chased down in his vehicle and "blugeoned" to death. It was an unsolved case for most of that year until an anonymous tip pointed to two men who were bragging about how they "beat an asian to death." The final newspaper article I have says that one individual had been sentenced to two years for involuntary manslaughter. I spent my life without a father and he gets two years. How is that a fair sentence?

It sounds like a plea bargain to me. Prosecutor got what he could. If the evidence was strong enough for a for sure conviction then he probably would have been made to stand trial. Either that or he exchanged information on something the cops were interested in for a lesser charge and thus a lesser sentence. Unfortunately, the legal system can be very unfair to victims. I know a brother and sister that were severely molested for four years straight. When it came out, the guy plea bargained and ended up with two years in jail, and got out in about a year for good behaviour. Those kids have to deal with that forever, he was out after a year, free to prey on some other unsuspecting child(this was before sexual predator laws). So you see, the justice system does not always deliver justice. In my experience, life mostly delivers that for you, as the child molester died of pnuemonia a few years after he was let out of jail. Good Luck and I am very sorry for your loss. I know how difficult that can be.

He probably turned states evidence against the other guy and got off with a plea bargain. There are an enormous amount of people who get convicted of involuntary manslaughter and get probation. It is rediculous, but thats our criminal justice system.

Dude,I am sorry abt ya dad's death.Call this Fate or Destiny u may call it.Everything happens for a reason and thats god's decision.Maybe without ur dad u may be a better person or a better dad to ur children?Even if the killers were hanged, it can never replace ur dad's life. life is a lesson of history. u decide. the evidence was weak so the prosecutor setteled for a plea bargain rather than risk him getting away free. ( probably)
it is up to you if you want justice. the courts seldom deliver.
find out where he lives, follow him, chase him down and beat him to death. establish an ironclad alibi first.

OUTRAGEOUS that that those two got off so lightly.....OUTRAGEOUS.....I'm so sorry you lost your dad. I think i would be hoping they'd do 2 more small crimes, so they could be hit with the 3 strike law and they'd be in the big house forever. The justice system needs a MAJOR overhaul!
