so what do you personally feel about that bomb scare thats been all over the news?

my opinion is that is was a stupid ploy by a marketing firm and that it wasnt a very good idea considering the world that we live in today, BUT that the authorities are absolutly out of line for making statments such as " am prepared to take any and all legal action against Turner Broadcasting and its affiliates for any and all expenses incurred during the response to today's incidents". AND "We're not going to let this go without looking at the further roots of how this happened to cause the panic in this city,"

COME ON!!!! it was a bad joke and thats it. How about all u stupid law enforcment officials pull up your skirts!!!!

You're right, Fed Ex, it's pretty ridiculous. From the reports I heard, the marketing firm did contact the city to get permission, but it was a little later than usual. So it seems like there was miscommunication between the agencies. That's not Turner's fault. They shouldn't be sued. I think law enforcement panicked because they didn't find them for weeks.

I've heard "prank" and "hoax" used for this incident, but they're neither. They would be, if Turner intended them to be mistaken for bombs.

Ricockulous.

I for one do NOT blame Turner. They were simply marketing the Adult Swim Show. Seriously, I blame adults for not taking an interest in television. Come on! This is just stupid! People are making a big fuss about something that is CLEARLY the fault of unknowing people who know nothing about the show. Honestly, if they knew more about it, they wouldn't be suddenly making a big deal.
Also, it seems that they had no idea that these had been there. THEY WERE AROUND FOR WEEKS! Law enforcement had no right to blow these things up. This proves my point: PEOPLE KNOW NOTHING OF TELEVISION! They shouldn't even be on the news if they don't know about TV. They should just stick with their records and 8-track tapes.
Peace.

the reaction was a little over the top.those little sings dont even look like bombs! it was the places they were put .i mean really who is gonna make a bomb with lights formed into a little digital body with hands and feet that you can see at night .the idea behind making a bomb is that you DONT notice it so it that it goes off and nobody bothers it.thats why they terrorists try to make bombs with gatorade bottles and toothpaste tubes and shoes.......
are you seeing a pattern here?
those things blend in and dont stick out.
what scared everybody is the locations of the little signs
they were placed at the bases of bridges over water
and some very important building
i think thats what everybody is freaking out about.

I would have to say they reacted appropriately but I think the back lash toward TCN and Turner are not justified. Bostonian officials and the governor are just a little tiffed about being on the receiving end of a good gag. I mean, come on. Relax people. I want to be safe as the next person, but just because you are part of the gov't doesn't mean that you have to act like a donkey on the receiving end of a rectal exam....seriously. We can't get on like this. The middle east is having a nice lil laugh at all this because, you see, if someone actually planned on hurting us, we wouldn't know until after the fact. I hope that never happens.

The company sould have put a logo on them - Turner, Cartoon Network, ATHF, etc.

The benefit would have been twofold: People would know they were ads, and people unfamiliar with Adult Swim and Aqua Team Hunger Force would have known what the hell they were advertising.

They did it in five cities, according to AdAge Magazine, but only Boston panicked. They have also been out for 3-4 weeks. Why did it take this long to notice them? It's a good thing they weren't bombs.

I think it inconvenienced a lot of people and probably caused law enforcement to call in people who would normally be off and for what... free publicity for a cartoon network. Ted Turner needs to be fined, big time. And the a..holes who thought this publicity stunt up should be fired.

So are you saying when kids call in bomb threats to schools, we should just laugh it off? Should the parents who were called away from work while their kids are in lock down, just laugh it off? "Good one! You REALLY got us!" Please! We live in a world with terrorists who ARE CONTINUALLY plotting to blow up bridges and subways. As of yet, no one knows where the 'tip' came from. I have a feeling Mr. Turner was trying to make a political point here. I hope they're fined big time -- ON TOP of what it cost the City of Boston to respond.
