This is a difficult question to answer and I hesitate to give a clear yes or no. I think the answer depends on what type of "genius" you are talking about. I would say that Bill Gates is a genius when it comes to business, but that his intelligence is limited to this domain--he has done nothing to suggest that he is anything close to a "universal Genius" like the people whom history considers to be the "great minds".

For example, someone like Goethe is often considered a universal genius...not only did he write amazing literature, but he also did substantial work in science and philosophy. Similarly, many famous scientists like Einstein, Leibniz, Newton also had interesting contributions to philosophy, religion, and science. Many of these people had various serious hobbies, such as music, in which they were fairly skilled too. Then there are people like Leonardo DaVinci who is primarily considered an artist but was also an inventor and scientist, and contributed to science primarily through his keen observation and reasoning.

Bill Gates has not produced any philosophy worth anything...he's not a scientist, nor has he exhibited any mastery of the various academic fields--he didn't even finish college. He hasn't contributed anything substantial to art. He's not known for being a good writer. I bet he's not an expert programmer either, even though he runs (and brought to power) the biggest software company in the world. Bill Gates may be an extremely shrewd businessman, but he is hardly a universal genius.

Its not a matter of being genius or not genius. Bill Gates innovated the concept of Windows and has rightfully leaded head-on in the world of computing. Had he not dropped out of college, today we would have been with something other than Windows.

Secondly, tell me which OS does not have errors.
Kudos to BG !!!
