I think the comment on this article made sense. If more Muslims came out against the violence they might gain some respect. I think the thing that frustrates most people is that the Muslims are doing little on their part to put a stop to all the killing that is going on. It is hard to respect someone when they allow these things to continue by being silent.

I think Rev. Cripe has exactly the right approach. It is human nature to fear what we do not understand...and if all we understand is pictures of masked fanatics waving AK's and blowing up humvees, that is pretty fearful.

Entering into dialog with anyone different from ourselves is always useful, and a highly desireable alternative to violence.

It strikes me that ordinary Muslims in the US and Europe who welcome such overtures might do more in the way of outreach. If such is happening and I am voicing a non-PC thought here, my defense is that little of such outreach is published by the main news outlets.

There are moderate muslims out there who don't like the killing that is done in the name of Islam. I think they're afraid to speak out. Getting them to speak out and to speak out publicly and in great numbers is the key.

All muslims are not haters of "...the great satan.". as the U.S. is called. Most muslims in this country love America and Americans. But, getting them to come out and say so is the problem.
