Well, you can expect whatever salary you want. But the company is always going to make a value judgment on whether you're worth it or not. Now if every single interview you go on results in a lower than expected salary offer, then perhaps the market isn't there for what you're looking for.

What are your career goals? HR and marketing are vastly different paths and will provide very different careers for you. For one thing, HR does not logically feed into any other role other than HR because it does not allow one to obtain any tangible skills aside from evaluating talent and managing projects. Marketing can potentially provide avenues into just about anything because it typically takes a certain type of person to succeed in marketing. You'd have options to jump to something else or try something new. Did you know that many CEO's in the Fortune 500's come from marketing backgrounds? You really have to evaluate what you want to do. HR can be a lucrative career as well if you truly enjoy it and stick with it. It's all up to you; either option might work out, but it comes down to what's more important to you. Good luck!
