You can tell the producers want them to seem natural and they must tell them, "Talk amongst yourselves every now and then - crack a joke or be overly compassionate." It makes me cringe too

If it's between news anchors, it's a dialogue. A monologue is one person talking.

But back to your question: Yo dudes! See that red light on the camera? Talk to ME!

Brian Williams is Good, Charles Gibson when he's not provoking the person he's talking to, Katie Couric is the Best, If they got everyday people talking on the CBS Evening News must be doing something right.
