iam a little older so what steps should i take?

well every good comic has an M.O. some kind of a calling card or personality that separates you from all the other comics. You will need a good act or jokes. Decide on how you will deliver the jokes. There is a lot to take in to be a good commedian or just another fool who thinks they are funny. Also try an open mic night. Listen and watch of the others are laughing. If so great if not move on its not for you. But trying and practicing is important . good luck

Open mic shows at stand up comedy clubs - but I expect it would take a long time to get established. Also enter any stand up comedy competitions.
Oh - if you haven't seen it, you must watch the movie "Punchline" starring Sally Fields - a homemaker who wants to become a comedienne...

get some funny jokes memorize them make people laugh get a cool outfit...basicly watch the comedy section on tv larrey the cable guy jeff foxworthy stuff like that hope it helps gl on gettin to comedy central
