You know the fingers need to be on asdf and jkl;

But is it okay if I am not like that? For some reason I'm not able to let my fingers stay on those keys. I'm left handed by the way, so my left hand usually do all the work.

Your fingers won't always be on those keys, but they should be on them most of the time, when they aren't striking other keys.

Your speed will be the best when you learn the proper way to type. I practice always, even though I do 100 wpm typing roughly.

It will be slow for you for awhile if you learn to do it correctly, but you will build up your speed much faster than doing it any other way, for the most part.

I like to use mavis beacon teaches typing.

You can still play some songs on it, maybe some are a little off tune but it still sounds good. Just stay on that keyboard, if you're good or if you're a pianist, then you should probably get a new one and give that back :D If you're just a beginner, just start on that one, maybe someday when you're good enough to play something like Bella's Lullaby, then you're probably good enough to get a grand piano :D Yes, I think skills carry over when you get more keys, it gets spacey, so maybe instead of skipping a couple of keys, you have to skip a few more. If you know what I mean :D You don't have to start from scratch, you're still good when you get an 88 key one, like I said just buy a sheet music and you're good to go.

Well sure it is ok. I keep my hands in about the same position but my fingers float around and above the keys. Its normal for your left hand to do most of the work because when you consider the key strokes the left hand is typically used more when using the English langauge.

It's not illegal so of course it's ok. As long as you still type everything without too many typos, I don't find a problem with it. Of course, if you're in a class where your teacher wants you to type that way, you'll have to follow her rules.
