i'm new to this, how can i get an animated picture of myself?

I dont think you can get animated ones.
You can choose an avator through the front page of yahoo mail and that will automatically be carried through to answers.

Click on Q & A on the top right of the screen, then click on Edit my info (underneath your pic) on the display pic section, click get a yahoo avatar.

You have to have them in your photos to put in your profile to use for your Avatars
