does anyone know the title of the film where the child is almost white and the mum is black. The child gets into films and pretends to her friends and other members of the cast that the black lady asking for her is her maid. She's afraid of being rejected and doesn't tell anyone her mother is black. Only at the end of the film does she realise how badly she treated her mother and admits to everyone that the lady is in fact her mother. Very sad film.

Puts a lump in my throat even now.

Evil Spoon - I don't remember who the actresses were. One may have been Natalie Wood but I don't know. This film is pretty old. Your description is similar to the one I speak of and I could be wrong on the work side of it. Did the film you speak of end with a horse drawn carriage hearse? If so then you are right.

Is this an older movie, or something relatively recent? Do you remember who was in it?

It almost sounds like the 1949 movie, "Pinky," only it is definitely different. That film starred Jeanne Crain, and it was about a light-skinned black woman who goes to school up north and passes herself off as white, only to come back home as a nurse and have to confront her real indentity.

IMITATION OF LIFE- with Lana Turner and Doris Day. It was an absolutely wonderful story. Sarah Jane denied that woman all of her life. How sad. Annie was a a great mother to her. And the funeral, OMG! Mahalia Jackson singing at the funeral still gives me chills to this day. One of my all-time favorite movies!
