I have the worst cramps today...they've never been this bad...I think it's due to the fact that I had a miscarriage last month. I took an extra strength pamprin but it's not even touching the pain...and i'm sooo irritable....what can I do? I just feel like going to bed but I have a ton of housework to do...I'm miserable...any suggestions are much appreciated

if you can, wear really loose clothes and put a heating pad on your tummy for a while, maybe 15 minutes or so. and have a little chocolate. its a natural pain reliever. and drink some water.

also, you can even masturbate. orgasms can help reduce cramps. fun AND true!

Try drinking some warm tea for a start. Relax your body, if at all possible & maybe that will help where the cramps are concerned. You'll feel the cramps more if you are immobile, so work away at getting your housework done, but don't overdue it, since you just had miscarriage. (so sorry to hear that) You're irritabilty is understandable. Hopefully, the exercise will help the cramps subside, while getting your mind off them. I always found that being on my feet & walking helped when I had cramps, but don't overdue it. Your body is healing on the inside. Maybe you should try Tylenol instead of Pamprin. If nothing helps, contact your physician. Feel better soon!

Stretching or walking around the block can help. Any physical activity will open up your blood vessels and lessen the cramping. Don't overdo the painkillers - too much only makes your body focus on processing it instead of helping the pain. Drink lots of water - being hydrated helps. Taking a nap always makes me feel a little better. A heating pad and some ice cream never hurt anyone. neither did zoning out to a movie. No salt - as it just makes them worse. And maybe you deserve to spoil yourself and take the day off housework and pick it up tomorrow when you have the energy to get it done.

And the orgasm fact above - totally true. Rub one out and you'll feel a bit better. :)

Do you have any ginger? Even the stuff you use for baking cookies?
Take a teaspoon full of it, straight (yuck!) then wash it down with some hot sweet tea.

Other than that, I'd be laying on the couch with a heating pad and and blankie taking a nap. To heck with the housework, girl, you deserve a break!

It could be your uterus contracting back to its original size before the pregnancy. I would suggest drinking really warm beverages, such as tea. If you have a heating pad or hot water bottle, take a few minutes and apply that to the pain. If you need to more mobile, I suggest a quick trip to your local drugstore and picking up on of those Thermacare Heat pads, which are disposable and convenient.

Take a couple of Advil and go for a walk. Exercise helps in getting rid of the cramps.

it is possible to be because of the miscarrage and if you need to take a day or 2 to get over your pains you should do it and not worry so much about the house and if the cramping keeps getting worse id go to the ER and see what is wrong

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Consult a doctor if it persists. You can also look for information in the web. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html
