can a router be reused for another computer?

i have 2 computers at my new house but need a router. i have one at my moms house but it was used for different computers.

Sure it can, but you might have to customize the setup. The router is a pretty independent piece of equipment. One thing though: some routers don't work with some networks, like Verizon requires certain routers for its services.

A home router can be used for any computers, as long as the computers are set for automatic addressing; if your router is a store-bought variety, it should work fine.
