Nope. I worked for GM for just a few years and to be truthfully, absolutely sincere? They need to lose market share. Lots of the American automobiles 5 years in the past had been constructed utilizing the sort of tech that the japanese started making use of within the late eighty's - early ninety's. They would've put all of the money they made off SUV's into R&D for higher automobiles but no... They simply put it into the coffers of the CEO, board of directors, and the Unions. They just badge engineered the identical crap cars that no one asked for with a further badge on it throughout six corporations and stood dumbfounded when nobody purchased it. I am professional-union, to an extent. Do the manufacturing unit employees deserve fair wages? Sure. But the retirement applications are just unsustainable. If our gov't did extra to deal with its persons, groups like the UAW would lose quite a lot of their pull. I force a Honda S2000. I test drove the GM competition... The Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice... And the Honda wins palms-down in each means, form, and form. Sorry. A number of years ago, Toyota, Honda and Nissan *made* as many jobs in the united states as the huge Three *misplaced.* lots of the "new" American cars which might be coming out listed below are European and Australian-designed Ford and GM merchandise (the Malibu is an Opel, so is the Sky, so is the Solstice... The GTO used to be a Holden, the G8 is a Holden... And many others). As quickly as the colossal three can make a auto like an S2000 or an Accord, i'll purchase. Until then, i don't care whether or not the CEO of the enterprise goes dwelling to Shibuya or Detroit.

I've owned some of the hottest Chevrolet's produced in the sixties and early seventies. There was more than adequate room and All of them had rock solid dependability. I loved it when as you ordered your car you could add ONE accessory at a time. Little things, a heavy duty radiator, battery, alternator, radio, transmissions, tinted glass, vinyl roofs, in some cars gas tank sizes, posi-traction, tire sizes, 6 - 8 different rear end gear ratios, power steering, telescoping steering columns, exhaust systems, de-clutching fans, mirror choices, air conditioning and many others. Nowadays, nothing but these horrible packages for what? Only for one thing which you really want! Cars of today are much more fuel efficient, foreign and domestic. In the seventy's and eighty's I was stung badly with three terrible Chevy's. A 72 Chevelle with the Turbo.Hydro. 350 trans. The case ears fractured @ 230 miles out of warranty. Next was an 81 Citation. Pistons rattled like a diesel on cold start-ups. One piston rattled all the time. Chevy conveniently had .001 - .002 - .003 - .004 and .005 over sized replacement pistons to cover this issue. I wanted perfection so I had the cylinder bores honed on a Sunnen CK10 with super fine stones. The over size pistons were fit to the proper clearance. I had a valve job done and had the rods and crank balanced. The motor ran fine. Following all that work, soon after the standard trans. the shifting forks wore out. Next a clutch was replaced, followed buy another trans. job. It became a never ending piece of crap. The next car was a 76 Chevy II with a metric turbo 200 trans. with a terrible 305 in front of it. Valve guides needed boring and replacement guides pressed in at 23,000 miles. Next was 3 Mercury Sables. Much better repair records. Spring of 2003 we decided we need reliable transportation to see our girls, both hundreds of miles away. We decided to give an 04 Toyota Camry a try. One trip back to the dealer for a repair, knock sensor needed replacement. 35 mpg. is greatly excepted thank you! Other than that PERFECTION! My only nagging fear is when the warranty is gone parts for all for foreign owned company's are outrageous!

I'll buy American over foreign all the time. No I will not buy any new ones. There all ugly. They they deserve what they got. Yes. They dropped all the decent cars except for the Vette. All that you can buy new are ugly little cars that all look the same. No power and wrong wheel drive. I hate trucks. I don't care if they are V8 with rear wheel drive that not enough reason to get one for me. And since all our auto makers care about is profit and not providing what the car buying public wants. I will stick to used cars. Yeah I know there are mistakes in this but I'm not going to start over,so put up with them

Define an "American made vehicle" for me if you will.

Would that be the Honda, built in Maryville Ohio? Perhaps the Toyota built in Gerogetown Kentucky? Or would you rather talk about foreign cars, like the Buick Lacrosse built in Oshawa Canada, or the Chevrolet Avalanche made in Silao Mexico. Or perhaps the Chevrolet Avero from Korea?

I had one person bragging to me about how they would only buy "American made cars!" Trouble is he had a Chevrolet 2500, not a bad car, except the VIN showed it was made in Mexico.

my friend got a 2001 Lincoln Continental Town Car, it was a limo car to shuttle people to and from the airport. It had over 220,000 miles on it. I think he paid $500 for the car, and $1200 for a new tranny. The rides great, good as new. Be American, Buy American.

You are missing out on some great values and fine cars by running blindly to foreign dealers because of their reputation for higher quality. Take a good look at domestic and you will come to understand that there has been a sea change in quality and dependability.

I work for ford and they brought it upon themselves. They figured people would only buy American cars and let there reliability and quality go to the craper. Now they have to play catch up, I'll stick with toyota, nissan, etc til they prove for years that they will try to make a comprible car.

I will buy what i think or know is good for the purpose i need it, I wont refuse to buy it because other people have refused to buy it. I am not a fool to act in accordance with other peoples unproven actions, (lets be civilized); neither will i buy a product because i am sympathethic with the seller.

If American auto if fine and serves me well, I will buy it
