Not yet, been searching the web for more info, and am checking the sky, just in case...you can't be too careful . Not usually in to that sort of stuff, but approx, three weeks ago at 3am saw the most beautiful deep blue light light up the sky for a few seconds, thought it was some sort of lightening found out later others saw it too, and its become another mystery.

Orange lights in the sky at night are very common. I first heard of them about 30 years ago in the Hills district of northwest Sydney and from there they have been seen across Australia and now in many parts of the world.

I realise by telling you what they are, it is going to create a spate of orange lights - as my letter describing them in New Scientist did some years ago - but here goes.

To create an orange light you need an orange garbage bag, some wire, some sticky tape, a hair drier and a candle stub. Make a small frame with the wire to hold the candle stub securely. Gather the neck of the garbage bag and, using the sticky tape, fix the wire frame in the opening. Use the hair drier to fill the garbage bag with hot air, creating a small hot air balloon. Light the candle and release the balloon. The candle illuminates the balloon from inside creating the orange light and the heat from the candle flame keeps the balloon up. They are most effective when released in groups.

Doing this is irresponsible and must never be considered if there is a risk of bushfires.

I saw these as I walked down from the C11 bus stop towards Archway. Everyone was craning their necks, making jokes about aliens. Someone said they were hot air balloons, and that seemed to make sense, when you looked at them, they would need to be illuminated as the sky darkens, and they were moving at about the right speed. Would be good to have confirmation though

There was another question about this, someone said it was promotional stunt. Some pop group I guess. The name meant nothing to me.

PS
It appears it was a promotional stunt for Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
