Hello, I have a P2P program that is unable to get past my firewall, Norton Internet Security 07, even though I created the rules that allow the program to download and upload data, and set up a port, 65534, its still unable to connect through the firewall, Windows firewall is off, but its the Norton firewall that doesnt allow connectivity even after the rules have been set and saved, even after restart and everything, the program is at its latest release and it just cant find its way to the port. It didnt do this the first few weeks that I had it, and I was running the same Norton firewall only 2006 version, now that I updated it simply wont connect. What could be the cause of this? and how to fix it?.

Thank you

1. Test the program directly by trying to connect without Norton Firewall up at all; if it still doesn't work, the firewall isn't the issue.
2. Research the P2P program specs to see if it uses a different port or additional ports that Norton 2007 might be still blocking.
3. Use a network sniffing program (Ethereal, et al) to sample traffic when the P2P program is running and the firewall is down, to get a sample of what correct traffic looks like; it might tell you what ports are being used, also.
4. Configure Norton Firewall to allow ALL ports only between your P2P hosts; not as secure, but it will get you running.
