the quality suffers because the divx codec compresses 4 gigs of video data down to 700mb....the cds you use are irrelevent.

if you want top quality you have to download the dvd image and burn to a 4.7gb disc.

Try looking for better releases, it means you will have to wait a while, but then you will get a good release. Or do what i do, buy a DVD RW, then burn movies on that and watch it, DVD disks would give you better quality and as its a RW (re write able) you can just erase it and burn another movie onto it. But i think that yes, buying a good quality CD would improve your movie a little, it will be a little clearer, so if you still want to use a CD then your better off getting a CD RW, if your not going to watch the movie again, then you can just erase them. I would recommend Verbatim, they are good quality and not that expensive either, i think Staples have them on offer at the moment!!

Shame on you. Piracy is of course naughty. Still, the best CD's I've come across by far are Verbatim. For better quality though I'd think about ditching the DivX approach and instead invest in a DVD±RW and get some DVD-R media. Then learn how to rip, process and burn films from original DVD's. Again this is illegal. Go to www.afterdawn.com for a wealth of information

The type of CD+R won't affect the quality of the movie, but it will make the disc last longer as blank media is known to degrade over time until eventually your player can't read it. Try Verbatim or Ritek discs.
