WHY in the world do drivers in the furthest right hand lane jump over to to the left hand lane and cut off 48390482903 people in the process? Do they just realize they have to turn?? For people who are familiar with the area they have legal U turns every 2 seconds so is there really a reason to cut off people and drive like an idiot?

I take it you're new to the Michigan U turn.
It sucks.....
But once you get use to it, well....you never get use to it.
New Jersey has the exact opposite, you turn right, to turn left. That drove me nuts.
There is no good reason why people drive like idiots. It's just Michigan driving, and the self absorbed people who live here.... :-)

It has nothing to do with metro Detroit area. This happens EVERYWHERE. There are lots of reasons people do it. To save time. Because they realize they made a mistake. Because they are selfish jerks. Usually it is all of the above. Not a lot you can do about it except watch out. Idiot drivers are a fact of life.
