Yes but I don't know if 'swallowing' it is the right term, rather they'd merge, the event horizon would grow larger and their singularities would become one.

Yes.
Lets say we have one black hole and another one twice its mass. If they combined (collided), the resulting black hole would be 3 times the mass of the original small one (1+2=3).
Or two black holes of equal size can also collide to produce one hole twice the mass of either.

any smaller sized black hole will merge into a more massive blackhole
