Your verbiage tends to make the whole marriage thing negative. In that most people equate "institution" with either a prison or insane asylum, calling marriage an "institution" tends to slant your question.

Basically, however, the answer to your questions is yes, however the foundation for these elements are love, integrity and honesty. Faith refers to faith that ones feelings are genuine and feeling that the love is mutual. Fidelity is a natural offspring of the love and integrity that I mentioned.

In actuality, marriage is much more. Hundreds of feelings and elements are also involved, you have only mentioned the tip of the iceberg.

Marriage is an institution thats for sure! Faith and fidelity are the foundation. Like building a house there are many more materials than faith and fidelity that go into the building. Trust is also a big one. I have been married 4 years and have so many more things to learn. My marriage has strengths and weaknesses as i am sure all do. Right now i think the weaknesses are winning! :(

Yes this is what it should be.. However very sadly most people dont think so anymore so they make a mockery and joke of what marriage is really supposed to be.

It most definitely should be....more and more in today's society cheating is accepted and made an excuse for "mistreated" spouses. Its a sad world we live in.....
