I am currently looking for a first job. However I am finding it very difficult because most places require sales skills which I obviously don't have. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Thanks!

I guess it depends on how old you are. If you are talking about getting a job out of college, your degree should give you some options or your college can help you with employment placement. However, if you are younger....I would say start applying at some restaurants to work as a host/hostess. A lot of times, after working there for a certain amount of time, you can be moved up to bussing and then waiting tables. That'll get you into sales as you will then be able to work a cash register. That way you can list some experience at the next places you apply.

Best of luck:)

If sales is where you want to go, one way is to take an administrative job at a company that has sales positions and succeed at that job. When you interview let them know you'd like to eventually move into a sales position at some point when a position becomes available. Do the job well and remind them from time to time when the appropriate opportunities arise. If they like your work, they will promote you to sales and you will get your experience.

Your best bet is probably something in retail or the food industry. It'll be pretty miserable, but you can try to find something along the lines of something you like (particular brand of clothing, a coffee shop or juice bar you really like) and then you can go onto bigger and better things.

Happy job hunting!

Use your head and your mouth and the patter will come to you. Then in no time, you'll be selling sand to the Arabs.
