I agree with the previous poster. Orange Hill is a very very very nice place to go. It sits on top of this hill (that I think it owns...not sure), and gives you a magnificient view.
If you want really LA, go to www.gayot.com to check out reviews on restaurants.

It's always good to get more reviews if possible, so if you find a couple restaurants you like, google them, read reviews on other sites, and visit the restaurant website if it has one.

Hotel Bel-Air Restaurant. We'll go there for breakfast on Valentine's Day. It's very impressive. Celebrities dine there with their families.

Check out Pastis on Beverly. Or check out any of the awesome little restaurants tucked away on Beverly and/or Third in L.A. There are plenty of gems.

But go as far as Orange County, and they have Orange Hill which is fancy and has a beautiful view.

I agree, the Ivy By the Shore (in santa monica) is FABULOUS. or else the Trump National in LA (not sure if that is the exact name) is also delicious.
