I don't now how to answer this question, anything I say would be an understatement. Iran has millenia-old history. Damascus in nearby Syria is the world's oldest continuously inhabited city. Iran lies on the ancient trade routes between India and the Arab civilisatons. It was through Iran that European, Persian and Arab conquerors expanded their empires towards India.

All this still does not begin to scrape the surface of Iran's past. Oh, by the way I'm from India, we have a large Iranian influence on our culture and history,so I should know something of Iran's historical ties with India
