And what is this SRR and XLM and real time feed stuff all about? I just got a shuffle (2nd gen) and I'm eager to learn. Anyways, I want this podcast "The Ongoing History of New Rock" to download automatically whenever a new one comes out. Is that possible?

Yes, as long as you regularly sync your iPod. Pull down the Edit menu in iTunes and select Preferences. Click the Podcast tab. From here, you can designate how often iTunes will check for new podcasts, whether to download them or not, and whether to keep them or delete them based on how many have been released or whether you've played them already (careful with that last one, since they register as being played when you start them, rather than by letting them run through to the end like music tracks).

Now, sync your iPod, and pull up the Podcast tab. Play with the settings here to your liking, but make sure that whatever you pick, it'll download at least the most recent or most recent unplayed (if it's new, either will work) of at least the specific podcast that you want to always auto-sync. Now, whenever a new episode is posted, it'll automatically download to iTunes, and when you next sync your iPod, it'll automatically pull in any episodes of your podcast that have posted since the last time you synced.
